[Happier together]
While organizing my files, I found a design for a coffee paper cup that I submitted in 2021. It was ultimately not selected, so it’s been sitting in a folder ever since. As I was tidying up my hard drive the other day, I realized there hadn’t been a need to explain the concept behind the design back then. So I thought I’d write it down here as a small way to remember it.
This coffee cup design comes in two versions, A and B. When I was thinking about these illustrations, I pictured the city scene where everyone’s rushing to grab a coffee. Each person has their own cup, but they’re all individuals, moving independently, and likely have little interaction with each other. The illustrations use hands to spell out letters. Version A represents that feeling of being separate yet friendly with a simple greeting to others. Version B (TOGETHER), on the other hand, shows a bit more connection, where people start to interact and share, leading to a double dose of joy and happiness. That’s the idea behind "Happier together."

資料を整理している時に、2021年に提出したコーヒーの紙コップデザインを見つけました。このデザインは最終的に採用されなかったため、ずっとフォルダにしまっていました。最近ハードディスクを整理していて気付いたのですが、当時はデザインのコンセプトを説明する必要がなかったんですね。そこで、思い出として少し記録しておきたいと思いました。
このコーヒーカップのデザインはAタイプとBタイプに分かれています。この2つのイラストを考える際、都市でみんなが急いでコーヒーを買っている様子が頭に浮かびました。皆が手にコーヒーを持っているけれど、それぞれが独立した個体であり、お互いに関わりがないかもしれません。イラストは手を使って文字を形作るようにデザインしました。Aタイプは、みんながバラバラで、互いに挨拶している雰囲気を表しています。Bタイプ(TOGETHER) は少し調整し、人と人とのつながりが生まれ、共有することで喜びが倍増するイメージで描きました。それが「Happier together」というコンセプトに繋がっています。
